Community

Our schools are proud to be part of vibrant communities that support education, connection, and growth. We encourage community involvement through events, partnerships, and volunteer opportunities that strengthen the bonds between schools and families.

Community Schools at Lyndale
At Lyndale, we don’t just host events. We build a connected system of family engagement, partnership, and support that centers students and empowers families as leaders in our school community.

As a Community School, our work is grounded in relationships, equity, and access, ensuring every family has meaningful opportunities to engage, lead, and thrive.

Our approach is intentionally designed across the school year to:
1. Create Welcoming Spaces
We prioritize meaningful relationship-building so every family feels seen, valued, and connected.

Through school-wide events and community celebrations like our Fall Festival, cultural celebrations, and family engagement nights, we create joyful opportunities for families to come together, build trust, and be part of the Lyndale community.

2. Support Families as Partners & Leaders
We believe families are essential partners in student success and leaders in our school community.

Programs like the PIQE Parent Engagement Program build family knowledge and advocacy, helping parents navigate the education system and support their children’s success.

Through our Los Dichos Parent Literacy Program, families take on active leadership roles by facilitating classroom read-alouds, guiding discussions, and engaging students in both English and Spanish.

Families also have opportunities to volunteer, lead, and contribute to school experiences, whether supporting events, working alongside staff, or helping create meaningful learning environments for all students.

3. Uplift Our Community & Connect Families to Supports
We are committed to ensuring families have access to the resources, opportunities, and experiences they need to thrive.

From large-scale events like our Fall Festival and community celebrations to hands-on experiences like The Great Tie-Dye Event, families are not just participants, they are integral to making these experiences possible.

We also work alongside community partners to provide enrichment, services, and supports that strengthen our entire school community.

What Makes Lyndale Unique

1. Families as Leaders
At Lyndale, families move beyond attendance to leadership, facilitating programs, volunteering at events, and shaping the experiences that define our school community.

2. Equity & Access for All
We intentionally remove barriers so all families can participate by providing:

  • Childcare during events and workshops
  • Meals for families
  • Translation and bilingual programming
  • Inclusive opportunities for all students and families

3. Strong Community Partnerships
We collaborate with organizations like PIQE, Community School of Music and Arts, and the YMCA to expand opportunities for learning, enrichment, and support.

Get Involved
We believe strong schools are built with strong communities.

Families can:

  • Volunteer at events and in classrooms
  • Participate in workshops and programs
  • Take on leadership roles in our school community
